Steve Saka, formerly Drew Estate’s legendary tobacco blender, set off on his own to create the Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust cigar company. His first release, Sombremesa, was a blockbuster and Saka has followed it up with yet another stunning smoke: Todos Las Dias Robusto.
Now before all of you linguaphiles out there get worked up, Todos Las Dias is intentionally misspelled from the correct Todos Los Dias, which means “everyday”. The story goes that Saka misheard the phrase and for years pronounced it with “Las” (which changes the phrase to “all days”) much to the chagrin of Saka’s Spanish speaking friends and colleagues. Upon naming his cigars, Saka simply decided to leave it “as is” to add to the already stunning uniqueness of the smoke.
Regardless of the pronunciation, these gems are impressive in any language! The Todos Las Dias Robusto is a 5” x 52 Nicaraguan Puro filled with luscious filler tobacco from Jalapa and Esteli which are tucked into a thick Nicaraguan binder and a beautifully textured Cuban-seed Sun Grown wrapper leaf. The 50 minute or so journey starts off brilliantly balanced and builds towards a big, booming finish.
Saka created the Todos Las Dias Robusto to represent the “everyday” quality that Nicaraguan tobacco farmers and cigar makers have to offer, delivering the trademark earth, pepper and spice flavors that have made Nicaragua a favorite amongst full-bodied cigar-loving connoisseurs. If you like em rich, then these are a must!
