The H. Upmann Connecticut by Grupo de Maestros series was launched in celebration of H. Upmann’s 175th Anniversary, adding an exquisite Connecticut-wrapped blend to the iconic cigar brand for the first time. The Grupo de Maestros is a group of top cigar makers led by Aging Room’s Rafael Nodal working together to develop unique, innovative cigars, like the H. Upmann Connecticut Toro.
Each cigar starts with a filler blend showcasing Dominican, Nicaraguan, and special Pilotico tobacco. The complex mixture is held together by a rich Dominican binder leaf and topped with an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper. A dark Maduro cap is added to give the beautiful 6” x 50 Toro a touch of sophistication.
The H. Upmann Connecticut Toro’s pleasing aroma and cold draw switch on the senses before the medium-plus smoke starts churning out luscious cedar, leather, earth, oak, and café mocha flavors. Pepper and sweet cream notes are ever-present as soft nuances of cinnamon toast, nutmeg, and lemongrass work in the fringes. The finish is bold and creamy with just a touch of orange zest.
The H. Upmann Connecticut by Grupo de Maestros Toro is a win for fans of Connecticut wrappers and the Upmann brand with its rich, complex, yet smooth and inviting character. Pairing an H. Upmann Connecticut Toro with coffee is a great way to start and wind down the day.
