With the Cohiba Black, General Cigar has upped the ante in the high-stakes game of luxury cigars. The Crystal Tube Robusto is a stunning addition to the Cohiba family of cigars.
The Cohiba Black became an instant classic upon its release and one glance at its ingredients explains it all. A deep, black Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper surrounds Dominican and Mexican filler tobaccos that are bound by a unique Dominican binder that has been aged for 3 years in tercios, or palm bark. These tobaccos all come together for a truly luxurious smoke that is supple and velvety, yet overflowing with richness.
A medium smoke that leans heavily to the fuller side, the Cohiba Black Robusto delivers flavors of spice, earth and espresso, with a slightly dark cocoa undertone. Enjoy the 5 ½” x 50 stick anywhere there is an occasion that needs to be celebrated in a grand way. The draw will be an exercise in perfection with the added flair of brilliant white ash. Expect the overall experience to fill at least an hour.
Whether as an ideal gift for an aficionado or just as a treat to yourself, the Cohiba Black Crystal Tube Robusto will bring immense satisfaction and will prove a fine compliment to an adventurous Cabernet Sauvignon.
A long time fan of both the Cuban and DR Cohiba's, Cohiba Black gets my vote of approval! I decided to try the Black Crystal Tubos, assuming the glass tube would preserve the maker's vision for the cigar much like a fine wine, and was not disappointed. Upon opening the tube, this Robusto is everything CigarsCity.Com advertises. From the dark oily sheen of the wrapper, to its smooth and velvety taste, Cohiba Black is firing on all cylinders. I prefer a punch to cutting a cigar and found the cold draw quite nice. Upon lighting up the stick I was slammed with a very peppery smoke, that backs off after two or three draws. At which point you begin to experience a very creamy, earthy and espresso tasting smoke. I pared this cigar with one of my favorite petite sirahs and found the combination very enjoyable. With an easy draw and smooth taste, this is a cigar to be savored. As I neared the end of the second third of the stick and into the final third, the flavors intensify, but remains quite smooth. Folks this is a cigar you'll want to take your time with, and one I'll be buying again!
