Fernandez shared with guests at his home in Nicaragua during late-night football games—the final cigar of the evening before calling it a night. After the original Geniales proved popular, the4" x 52 Corticas joined the line in 2016, giving smokers a shorter, broader interpretation of the same blend.
AnEcuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper covers Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, a straightforward combination that lets the quality of Fernandez's tobacco do most of the talking. The 52-ring gauge gives the Corticas a little more weight and roundness than the narrower Geniales, withcedar, toasted tobacco and a measured pepperiness at the center of the profile. There's an underlying natural sweetness that keeps the cigar balanced without distracting from its distinctly Nicaraguan character.
The Corticas makes particular sense when time is limited but a small cigar feels like too much of a compromise.
