TheA.J. Fernandez Last Call Maduro Geniales is the original expression of Last Call Maduro and arguably the format that best explains the idea behind the cigar. Last Call began as a small-batch blend A.J. Fernandez shared with visitors to his Nicaraguan factories and farms, particularly when there was time for one final cigar. Following the success of the original Habano, Fernandez introduced the Maduro in 2016 in this compact4½" x 48 Geniales format.
APennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper surrounds Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, giving the Maduro a noticeably darker personality than the Habano. The 48 ring gauge keeps the Broadleaf well represented and the smoke concentrated, withearth, cocoa and restrained pepper defining much of the profile. There's a natural sweetness underneath that rounds out the heavier tobacco without turning the cigar overly rich. It's a compact, medium-to-full-bodied smoke with considerably more substance than its dimensions suggest.
TheGeniales is particularly well suited to smokers who appreciate Broadleaf but don't always want to commit to a large cigar.
