After fire devastated much of his primary Estelí operation in 2025, Fernandez responded not simply by rebuilding, but by creating a cigar centered on gratitude, resilience, and the people who stood behind him.Amar means “to love” in Spanish and “moon” in Arabic—a thoughtful reference to both sides of his Cuban-Lebanese heritage. Handcrafted at theSan Lotano factory in Ocotál, Nicaragua, Amar is unmistakably an A.J. cigar, but one carrying considerably more personal meaning than another addition to his portfolio.
The5½" x 54 Robusto is a Nicaraguan puro from wrapper to filler, led by a proprietaryNicaraguan Habano wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and long-fillers. That compact, substantial format brings the tobacco forward quickly, developing a medium-bodied profile of earth, seasoned wood and pepper balanced by touches of sweetness, citrus and warm spice. There's enough richness to satisfy an experienced Nicaraguan smoker, yet Amar is more measured than some of Fernandez's heavier blends—the tobacco has muscle, but the blending keeps it disciplined.
