A richMexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper covers an Indonesian Sumatra binder and aged fillers from theDominican Republic and United States. Developed separately from the original Cameroon-wrapped Queen, the Maduro brings considerably more depth and weight while retaining the sophistication that defines the line.
The box-pressed 52-ring format is particularly well chosen. There's enough filler to build body and complexity, but the San Andrés remains a major part of the experience, bringing dark cocoa, earth and natural sweetness over espresso, cedar, roasted nuts and warm spice. The squared press also gives the Wild Card a denser, more deliberate character than the round vitolas in the series. It's medium-to-full in strength, but the real attraction is richness and balance rather than sheer power.
For the experienced Maduro smoker, the Wild Card may be the most compelling size in the lineup. The classic 6 x 52 proportions and box press put this blend right in its sweet spot—substantial without becoming oversized and rich without becoming heavy.If only one Queen Maduro is going into the humidor, the Wild Card deserves serious consideration.
