Aged in barrels once home to delicious Rabbit Hole bourbon, Diesel's Whiskey Row is the first cigar in this line-up to feature a bourbon-accompanied aging process.
The robusto is a 5.5-inch beauty that features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and stuffed inside, you'll find a Nicaraguan filler tobacco blend with leaf from the Ometepe, Condega and Jalapa regions of the country. Holding things together, a Mexican San Andres binder leaf that has been aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels. (Rabbit Hole actually sent the barrels down to AJ Fernandez's factory in Nicaragua where the aging took place).
Aging those binders in bourbon barrels generally helps deliver a strong oaky flavor and you'll probably pick up on some notes of bourbon in the aroma or room note. We also noticed some floral notes a hint of sweetness and a little bit of spice hitting our palate as we smoked this.
These cigars are sold as boxes of 25 and Packs of 5 here at CigarsCity.com.
Not one to say much about notes of leather, blah, blah, but this is in my top 3 of ALL time!
I like maduros generally, but this one really hit me. Immediately bought 3 boxes.
This was my 1st diesel, and have since bought several boxes of all of them. Some are quite hard to find, this being one of them at times. I really like all of Fernandez work. Never met a diesel I didn't like. Not for the timid in general! Diesel are full flavor smokes, these are quite flavorful, and buttery smooth. Just a gem!
The Whiskey Row is pretty good. I wasn't blown away or anything but you can taste the bourbon and I'm enjoying the 5-pack. Have smoked about 3 of them so far.
I might have just had a bad day when i smoked my first one. The others seemed to be okay but, i gave at least three to my friends. They never told me what they thought. I will give them another try later. I just was off that day.
