With La Diana, he didn't simply revisit his past—he created one of his boldest blends to honor the man and place where that remarkable career began.
The6" x 54 Vencosme gives that blend room to show everything it has. A handsomeEcuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper surrounds aMexican San Andrés binder, while the filler draws heavily on northern Dominican tobacco—Corojo, Criollo '98 and Negrito—with the distinctive addition ofPeruvian Pelo de Oro. The result has depth rather than simply strength: dark earth and wood establish the foundation, with chocolate, roasted coffee, pepper, herbs and restrained fruit-like sweetness appearing as the cigar develops. At 54 ring, there's enough tobacco mass to expose the individual components gradually while maintaining the powerful character Díaz built into the blend.
