Metropolitan was originally part of the Nat Sherman portfolio, where it served for decades as the approachable, everyday side of the company’s premium cigar business. When Michael Herklots and Brendon Scott acquired the former Nat Sherman cigar brands and formed Ferio Tego, Metropolitan came with them—a worthwhile bit of continuity for smokers who remember these cigars from the Nat Sherman years.
The Connecticut expression pairs an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper with a Nicaraguan core, producing the sort of Connecticut cigar a tobacconist can comfortably recommend beyond the traditional “mild cigar” customer. At 6" x 60, the Gordo puts considerably more emphasis on the interior tobacco than the smaller Metropolitan sizes. The character remains smooth and composed, with cedar, toasted tobacco and a gentle nuttiness, accompanied by just enough sweetness and spice to keep the cigar from becoming flat.
