Altadis, makers of Montecristo cigars, have teamed
with the illustrious cigar masters Grupo de Maestros and the Plascencia family
to create a Montecristo for the 21st Century: The Espada by
Montecristo. Literally meaning “sword,” the Espada is an aptly-named cigar that
is leading the charge of Montecristo’s reboot with epically rich and complex
smokes.
The Espada by Montecristo Quillon is a 7” x 56
brute that is built around Habano Jalapa Seco Vintage 2008, Habano Jalapa Viso
Ometepe Vintage 2008 and Habano Condega Ligero Vintage 2008 filler tobaccos
that are tucked into a 2009 Habano Jalapa Binder. A velvety 2010 Habana Jalapa
wrapper leaf finishes the Nicaraguan Puro, a Montecristo first.
The epic near-two hour smoke unleashes a bevy of
lush earth, cedar and pepper flavors that swirl into a full-bodied experience with
notes of caramel, nuts and spice. The Espada Quillon is bold to the end with a
creamy undercurrent and citrusy tang emerging during the satisfying finale.
A wholly unique cigar and a classic in its own
right, the Espada by Montecristo Quillon is a masterfully crafted smoke that is
rocketing to the top of favorite lists across the land. Clear your schedule and
savor this magnificent creation after a grand feast and with an 18 year or
older Single Malt Highland Whiskey.
