heWarped Cloud Hopper No. 485 grew out of something more personal than a typical line extension. Cloud Hopper was inspired by Warped founderKyle Gellis and his brother Devin’s shared love of travel and the memories accumulated while constantly moving from place to place. The cigar follows Warped’s decidedly old-school approach to blending: relatively small ring gauges, Cuban-inspired proportions and an emphasis on tobacco rather than sheer strength. Made in Nicaragua atTABSA, the Aganorsa factory responsible for many of Warped’s most acclaimed cigars, Cloud Hopper is a Nicaraguan puro built around ashade-grown Jalapa Corojo ’99 wrapper with Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 and Criollo ’98 tobaccos underneath.
At5" x 48, the No. 485 is the broader of the two Cloud Hopper formats, giving the Nicaraguan core a little more room to work while retaining plenty of influence from that aromatic Corojo wrapper. Cream and cedar provide the foundation, joined by cinnamon, earth, subtle pepper and a natural tobacco sweetness, with occasional fruitier impressions adding another dimension. Warped calls the blend medium-to-full, but its appeal is less about raw strength than the combination ofAganorsa-grown tobacco, compact proportions and a distinctly Cuban-inspired balance. The 485 is a particularly approachable introduction to the Warped style: rich enough for an experienced smoker, compact enough for an everyday cigar, and proof that boutique character doesn’t necessarily require boutique pricing.
