TheWarped Cloud Hopper No. 53 takes the same Nicaraguan tobacco as the 485 and puts considerably more emphasis on its wrapper. Created byKyle and Devin Gellis around their shared passion for travel, Cloud Hopper was conceived as an accessible expression of the tobacco and proportions that have defined Warped’s approach to modern boutique cigars. Production takes place atTABSA in Nicaragua, where a shade-grown JalapaCorojo ’99 wrapper surrounds a Nicaraguan core incorporating Corojo ’99 and Criollo ’98. It’s classic Warped territory—Aganorsa tobacco, restrained dimensions and a blending philosophy that owes far more to traditional Cuban cigars than the oversized formats that dominate much of the modern market.
Despite its name, the No. 53 measures a slender5¼" x 42. That smaller ring gauge increases the proportion of wrapper in each puff, bringing the aromatic character of the Corojo forward withcream, cedar, cinnamon and sweet spice layered over earth, nuts and subtle fruit. The narrower format also gives the cigar a slightly more focused presentation than the 48-ring 485, making it especially appealing to smokers who appreciate wrapper influence and traditional proportions. This particular vitola has also earned serious recognition:Cigar Aficionado rated the Cloud Hopper No. 53 93 points and named it the No. 11 Cigar of 2021. For a relatively unassuming cigar designed to remain accessible, that accolade says quite a bit about the quality of the tobacco inside.
