Warped Isla del Cocodrilo

"When we embarked on the journey of sourcing tobacco for this project, we sought something truly extraordinary for the wrapper, and we have achieved just that with the Habano Deflorada" remarked Kyle Gellis, founder and mastermind behind Warped Cigars. "It adds a layer of complexity and richness to Isla del Cocodrilo, elevating the blends experience to a new flavor spectrum from Warped."

The inspiration behind the name "Island of Crocodile" stems from the island of Cuba, affectionately known as Crocodile Island due to its resemblance to the unique and critically endangered Cuban Crocodile only found in the Zapata Swamp and on the Isle of Youth. This homage pays tribute to the islands storied cigar-making tradition and the allure of its natural landscape.

These beauties are crafted in the Tabacalera La iSLA in Dominican Republic and are a master class in construction and flavor.  The real hero here is the Ecuadorian Habano Desfloradawrapper. Desflorada refers to tobacco plants whose flowering tops are removed (topped) at a specific stage, redirecting the plant's energy into the leaves. The Habano Desflorada wrapper presents a refined colorado-rosado complexion with a delicate oil sheen, extremely fine veins, and a silky texture that immediately signals careful fermentation and sorting. Unlike many modern Habanos that announce themselves with dark coloration and aggressive oils, this leaf exudes restraint and elegance.

Underneath this delectable wrapper in this Medium+ bodied stick sits Ecuador and Brazil binders and filler from Nicaragua which gives Isla del Cocodrilo notes of rich dried fruit, leather oak, cedar and a mix of warm spices. For seasoned aficionados, Isla del Cocodrilo is less about power and more about precision—a cigar that rewards slow smoking, attentive retrohaling, and a developed palate. It is one of the most elegant uses of Ecuador Habano Desflorada tobacco currently in regular production.
