Partagas cigars are among the world's oldest cigar brands. Rich in character and full of complex amazing flavors, Partagas stogies are always a smooth and delightful smoke.
Partagas cigars company was founded in Cuba in 1845 and under the guidance of Ramon Cifuentes have grown to become one of the most famous cigar makers in the Western Hemisphere. Today, there are actually two different companies that claim and use the Partagas name. One, based in Cuba is not able to sell tobacco products to American aficionados (darn trade embargo) and the other, General Cigar, makes cigars in the Dominican Republic, that's what you'll find here.
The story of how the Cuban and Dominican companies of the same name came to be is pretty interesting. After he left Cuba, the patron of the family, Ramón Cifuentes, took the Partagas cigar name and sold the rights to use it to the General Cigar Company. In 1978, General Cigar obtained a trademark and relaunched the brand for what was a growing and profitable American market. They started making cigars in Jamaica and after one year moved into a big facility near Santiago, Dominican Republic - the country's largest city.
